Thompson Mission Church
Statements of Beliefs
DOCTRINAL
We, believers of the Thompson Mission Church are in agreement with the commonly known
Apostles Creed of Faith:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy
Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended
to hades. The third day he rose again from the dead, He ascended to heaven and is
seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He will come to
judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy true Church, the communion of saints, the
forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the everlasting life,. Amen.

only) are: constant continuation in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Apostles (Acts 2.42)
◦ mission work and spreading of Christian teaching
◦ being in fellowship with each other and other Christians (Acts 2.42)
◦ performing prayers (Acts 2.42) and other acts of worshipping God
◦ mutual help and support of other Christians
◦ performing Christian practices and services (Acts 2.42) such as: water baptism,
◦ communion, spiritual services and gatherings, anointing with oil (and others)
References: Act 2:42, Mathew 28:18-20, James 5:14
Core Beliefs
I. The Holy Scriptures: We believe that the Holy Bible (The Scriptures) was written by
divinely inspired men, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instructions; that the Scriptures
have God for its author and that the Scriptures contain everything needed for salvation and
new life. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:21)
Il. The True God: We believe that there is One and only one, living and True God: God the
Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19)
III The Fall of Man: We believe that man (male and female) was created by God; man is an
image of the triune God having spirit, soul and body. We believe that man sinned and died
both spiritually and eventually physically. We believe that all people are incapable of saving
themselves from eternal damnation (Gen.1-3, Romans 3.23)
IV. The Way of Salvation: We believe that the Son of God came into this world, took on a
human body, became known as Jesus of Nazareth - Christ (the Messiah), and died on the
cross of Calvary as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. He rose from the dead and became
the everlasting Saviour and Lord of all (Heb. 7:22-27). We believe that any sinner can be
saved by the Lord Jesus because of His death and Resurrection. This salvation is
administered by Christ being based on the grace and love of God AND the sinner's own
repentance of sins and individual faith. We do not believe that a sinner can be saved by
doing good works but we believe that a saved believer is created to do good works that bring
Glory to God.(Eph 2:1-12, Matt 5:16)
V. Sanctification: We believe that any believer receives the fullness of moral purity and perfection only by being found in the Lord Jesus by faith. (Eph. 1:3-14) We also believe that the time on Earth, given by God for every believer is to practice Sanctification his/her own life by abstaining from evil and sinful things. (1 Pet. 1:13-19, Mk 7:14-23, Cor. 6:9-20)
Vll. The Church: We believe that the Church is a group of people who individually are called by the Spirit of God and by the Word of God, out of this world, to be God's people. Every member of the Church has repented of his/her own sins, trusted the Lord for Salvation, has been baptized in water, and presently serves the Lord awaiting His return. (1. Thess. 1:9-10). We believe that in the Church there is only one ultimate authority our Lord Jesus Christ, His Spirit and His Word (Eph. 1:22-23). We believe in the Universal true Church which is a body of all true faithful Christians of all ages and times.
V/Il. Mission work: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ commanded all Christians to
spread the faith in Him, amplify His Church, preach and teach His words and teachings all
around the World. (Matt.28:18-20).
Vl. Family: We believe that a male and a female were created by God in the image of God female is called "a
man" (human being). We believe that a marital union between a male and a Female is called " a family". We believe that this union is to be preserved and not to be separated by people. (Mark 10:1-11)
X. The Future: We believe in the physical coming of our Lord Jesus to this Earth to judge
unbelievers and take His Bride, the Church, to Heaven (His Home). We believe in the
Rapture of the faithful Church and in the Millennial kingdom that God promised to the Jewish
nation. We believe that unfaithful and unbelieving souls will be damned by God for their sin
and be eternally punished in hell (1 Thess 4:13-18, Rev ch20)
PRACTICAL
In this section we point out some guiding principles of the operation of Thompson Mission
Church.
Church Operation
We believe in the autonomy of local churches, therefore Thompson Mission Church does not
belong to any formal Union or Conference.
Church Governance
The ultimate governing body of Thompson Mission Church is the gathering of all members of
Thompson Mission Church who are in happy fellowship and not under any disciplinary
action.
All operational affairs are conducted by the Brothers Council, which is composed of all
brothers who are in the happy fellowship of the Thompson Mission Church.
Church and Civil Authorities and Culture
We believe in the principle of authority as a mechanism that God gave to people to bring
order and stability. We also believe that the ultimate authority is God Himself. We believe
that Christians are called O pray for the authorities (both civil- and s spiritual) honour and obey
them unless the authorities act or say something contrary to the Word of God. (1 Pet.
2:13-17, Acts 5:29).
We believe and practice the plurality of leadership (Acts 14:23). We
acknowledges special
roles (offices) in Thompson Mission Church as they are revealed to us in the Scriptures:
elders, pastors, preachers (teachers), deacons and evangelists. We acknowledge that only a
brother with a visible gift from the Lord given for a certain office can be appointed and
acknowledged by the Thompson Mission Church. For the office of an elder or deacon we
use qualifications given by Apostles and practice ordination by the laying on of hands.
(1 Tim3, Tutus 1, 2 Tim 1:6)
Church Membership (Fellowship)
Church membership is absolutely voluntary.
Any born again believer, baptised by water can ask for acceptance into Thompson Mission
Church fellowship. The meeting of all Members can make a corresponding decision on the
request of membership. Thompson Mission Church has a right to decline membership
requests based on doctrinal or practical differences or issues.
Church Accountability
All decisions that pertain to the Church are made by the Meeting of All Members or by the
Brothers Council. Financial operations are done in agreement with the Brothers Council.
Families sent by corresponding local churches can be accountable to their local
churches/leadership.
All financial, disciplinary or other affair of the Thompson Mission Church should never be
disclosed to any other party unless agreed with the Brothers Council or Membership Meeting
Church Discipline
In Thompson Church we believe that church discipline is an important part of Church life. As
our Lord and Apostles taught us, in case of doctrinal errors or action that is contrary to
Christian Teachings or contrary to our Statements of beliefs Thompson Mission Church
reserves rights to administer church discipline. There are several disciplinary actions: private
conversations with Church leadership (or Brothers Council), public remarks,
excommunication from Thompson Mission Church (Gal. 6:1, 2 Thess. 3:14, 1 Cor. 5:11-13,
Tit. 3:10).
Individual Life
According to the principle of V. Sanctiication, we teach and encourage fellow believers to
abstain from evil, sinful and worldly things (1 John 2:15-17). We believe that being a triune
(body, soul and spirit) Image of God, Christians are to serve God and show obedience to
God in all 3 parts of human nature. We believe that Christians are called out of this world but
left in this world to be the Light for this world by practising modesty, kindness and good
service to people around us (John 17:15, Matt 5:13-17). In Thompson Mission Church when
prayer or worship activity takes place, we practice head covering for sisters and no head
covering for E brothers as an outward sign of obeying to the principle of Divine Headship
according to the Scriptures (1 Cor 11:3, 1 Cor 11:4-15).
Mission work
One of the most important goals for Thompson Mission Church i is mission work, especially in and around Thompson, Manitoba. Therfore, much Church effort is spent for this purpose
Conclusion
This document is not designed to trump over the individual conscience of any believer.
We understand that ultimately, only the Holy Scriptures are the best and perfect source of
guiding principles (2 Tim.3:16-17) and the Holy Spirit is the best teacher of them.
